Karen George
Karen George is a licensed pediatric speech-language pathologist who has been practicing since 2005.
Karen has provided therapy in a variety of clinical settings, including in-home speech services, addressing the needs of preschool age children through adults.
She is a dedicated and caring professional who enjoys working with young children and their families to provide personalized therapy to help your child achieve their communication goals.
Karen George has extensive experience in the diagnosis and intervention of children with a variety of communication disorders including, receptive and expressive language, motor speech (e.g., apraxia), oral motor, articulation, and pervasive developmental disorders.
Karen received both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Speech-Language Pathology from Marquette University.
She is a certified member of the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA), the Illinois Speech and Hearing Association (ISHA) and is licensed within the State of Illinois.
The practice she founded, Chicago Speech Therapy, LLC, provides in-home pediatric speech therapy in Chicago and surrounding suburbs. Karen and her team of Chicago speech therapists have a reputation for ultra-effective speech therapy and work with a variety of speech disorders.
Karen is the author of several books such as A Parent’s Guide to Speech and Language Milestones, A Parent’s Guide to Articulation, A Parent’s Guide to Speech Delay, A Parent’s Guide to Stuttering Therapy, A Parent’s Guide to Speech Sounds Development and A Parent’s Guide to Pediatric Feeding Therapy.
She is often asked to speak and has addressed audiences at top children’s hospitals, Northwestern University and Marquette University. Karen is highly referred by many Chicago-area Pediatricians and elite schools.
To provide mentorship and opportunities for aspiring clinicians, Karen launched the Speech Therapy Practice Associate (STPA) program, which provides direct clinical experience for aspiring speech-language pathologists. In the STPA program, individuals receive mentorship and professional experience needed for graduate school. The STPA program is the only opportunity of its kind in the Chicago area.
In her past, Karen enjoyed running, biking, and swimming along Chicago’s lakefront and completed more than 25 triathalons. Now, she enjoys spending time with her husband and three young children.

Speech therapy is individualized for every child to meet his or her unique strengths and areas of concern. The sessions will also incorporate your child’s interests to increase engagement in sessions, which leads to greater progress and gains throughout the therapeutic process.
To promote the generalization of skills to settings outside of speech therapy sessions, the sessions follow a naturalistic approach in your home or your child’s school (depending on the structure of your child’s school program). Chicago Speech Therapy can also provide services at the practice’s state-of-the-art facility located around Lincoln Park and Bucktown in the city of Chicago.
